The Ukrainian-Danish Youth House

The Ukrainian-Danish Youth House

In 2020 Danish Cultural Institute and the Danish Youth Council (DUF) joined together to create a new youth house in Kyiv to strengthen democratic participation among Ukrainian youths and establish Ukrainian and Danish youth partnerships. The project received 18 million DKK from a youth pool under the Neighbourhood Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark

Much is at stake in Ukraine. The country is the focal point of a new conflict in Europe, while at the same time undergoing extensive reform processes to strengthen democracy, promote human rights and create sustainable growth. The Ukrainian youth play an important part in this development.

To support the young generation’s ability to impact their shared future, the Neighbourhood programme at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has set aside 24 million DKK to further the engagement and participation of the Ukrainian youth in their society.

18 million DKK goes to the new Ukrainian-Danish youth house in Kyiv. The project is led by Danish Cultural Institute and the Danish Youth Council (DUF).

A platform for exchange and cultural collaboration

The Youth House is a platform for young people from Ukraine and Denmark supporting participation, democracy, and creativity. Based in Kyiv, it is the ambition to engage, facilitate, and support youth projects and activism across the countries.

Workshops, social activities, youth festivals, cultural projects and exchange trips will build bridges and friendships from Kyiv to Copenhagen, from Mariupol to Mariager.

Dialogue, new ideas and inspiring meetings are at the core of the vibrant spot, which is based on the strong belief that everybody can join and get involved.

It is a place for creativity, big dreams, and collaboration. A place to discuss and investigate one’s rights as a young person – and it is a safe place where you can hang out with both your present and future friends.

The Youth House is led by director Julie Arnfred Bojesen, [email protected]
